Empowering the youth of Mathare to break the cycle of poverty and drive community transformation.

Canada-Mathare Education Trust (CMETrust) is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty in Mathare, one of Nairobi’s most impoverished communities, by providing access to education for young people. Focused on offering secondary school scholarships to students who cannot afford the tuition, CMETrust empowers youth to pursue their dreams and positively impact their community. In addition to financial support, the organization offers complementary educational programs, including professional development and computer training, to equip students with the skills needed to thrive in today’s world. Through a partnership with local Kenyan leaders and a commitment to social justice, CMETrust is creating a critical mass of educated youth capable of transforming Mathare and contributing to a brighter future for Kenya.

Mission

CMETrust is a partnership of dedicated and passionate individuals in Mathare and in Canada who believe in the power of educated individuals to change their lives, their families, their community, and the world. Our goal is to create a critical mass of these individuals, so that their impact will be truly transformative. To do this, we support bright, dedicated young people throughout their educational journeys, and we actively foster the spirit of giving back to the community.

Vision

Our goal is to create a critical mass of educated youth who can transform their lives, their families, their community, their country – and the world!
