WHY FORA?
Why Fora?
Launched in 2009, Fora has always placed young leaders marginalized by their gender at the centre of decision-making processes.
Since Fora’s inception, we have been committed to creating inclusive and equitable decision-making spaces. Through our signature programs—Rise on Boards and the Global Summit—and our Advocacy efforts, we provide unparalleled training and opportunities. Our mission is to equip young trailblazers with the skills, confidence, and networks they need to lead gender equity movements, advance their careers, and transform the status quo. We strive to do so by working to build a world in which young gender-marginalized folks are able to fully participate in the economic growth, political stability, and social innovations of their countries.
Why Us?
At Fora, we don’t just talk about inclusive leadership—we build it. Our programs are designed to bridge the gap between ambition and opportunity, ensuring that young leaders facing gender-based discrimination can access the skills, networks, and experiences they need to lead change in their communities.
Our work is rooted in education, mentorship, and advocacy—a threefold approach that has transformed the leadership landscape for young women and gender-diverse folks. Through education, we equip young leaders with governance and advocacy training, ensuring they have the expertise to take on leadership roles. Fora’s programming also provides fulsome mentorship through our extensive network of mentors, coaches, and partners who provide direct support, opening doors to new opportunities. Through our advocacy efforts, we amplify the voices of young leaders on national and international stages, ensuring they are heard in rooms where important decisions affecting them and their futures are being made.
Our impact since 2010 can illustrate this better.

Why Now?
Right now, the need for strong, diverse leadership has never been more pressing. As conversations around diversity, equity, and inclusion continue to (de)evolve, organizations dedicated to advancing gender equity are navigating an ever-changing landscape. Recent legislative discussions and potential policy shifts indicate that continued investment in young leaders is essential, and yet is being deprioritized.
In Canada, there are ongoing conversations about governance and representation, including new expectations for organizations to disclose diversity metrics. At the same time, DEI initiatives are facing increased scrutiny in some sectors, which can impact opportunities and resources for young folks who have historically been underrepresented in leadership.
Now more than ever, Fora’s work remains critical. By equipping young leaders with the skills, networks, and confidence to take on leadership roles, we are helping to build a future where decision-making spaces reflect the diversity of the communities they serve. Investing in the next generation today means shaping a more inclusive and equitable tomorrow.
